It was a hot summer day. The temperature was in the high 90s but the humidity made it feel as though it were in the 100s. It was pretty unusual for Detroit. Sure Detroit had warm days in the summer, but usually only in the mid-80s and certainly without the high percentage of humidity. All around the city people sat on their porches desperately trying to cool off as many homes were without air conditioning.
Timothy Peters was outside tossing a baseball around with his sister, Grace. He knew that baseball really wasn’t Grace’s thing, but she had agreed to help him work on his pitching arm. He needed to keep in shape if he was going to make the high school team again next school year. Every year the teens trying out for the team were better and better. Tim was afraid of one of them taking his pitching spot one year. He needed to stay on the varsity team each year if he was going to get a sports scholarship for college. He wanted to better himself so he would never have to live in places like Detroit. He hated it here, but this was where is dad’s job was. He didn’t know how many times he had argued with his parents about moving. If only they could see the things I do every single day. It’s not safe here, especially not for Gracie.
The definition of restoration is the act of restoring; renewal, revival, or reestablishment. A return of something to a former, original, normal, or unimpaired condition. Just because you want or need to be restored does not mean that you have fallen completely out of the grace of God. You could have simply been slightly swayed by things of the world. As a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, it is so very important for us to not allow what the media says, what society says or accepts as the norm, what friends may say or believe affect our belief in God and our obedience to Him.
" For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" Titus 2:11-13
With all of the things going on in the world today, you need to draw as close to God as you can. Don't allow the ungodly ways of the world to rub off on you. The world belongs to the devil and he knows that his time is running out. There is coming a time where all will have to make that final decision~ God or the devil. Who will you choose?
